Media Digitization and Preservation Initiative

One Second a Day – Formats

by Casey Burgess, Intern, Media Digitization and Preservation Initiative, Indiana University. This is an archival version of a post originally published on the MDPI blog, which ran from 2017-2020.

My name is Casey Burgess and I am an intern at MDPI. When I was asked to put together a “1 Second Everyday” video focusing on objects that MDPI has digitized, I was concerned with how to showcase objects. I definitely didn’t need to worry about that. Indiana University has such a broad collection of archives and libraries, which in turn have incredibly diverse collections with media that is interesting both in content and in terms of visual impact. In fact, I had trouble shortening the video because of how amazing many of these objects were! Through this video, I hope you catch a glimpse of the beauty and diversity of the objects we all work so hard to preserve.
